New Academic Year 2011-2012

Well, it's been a long time since my last post. I just don't have enough time to write anymore because I got a job now as a home tutor. We still homeschool, though, but I can't use the great Charlotte Mason method anymore. I need to use something simple and organized, so I choose Christian Light Education. I think I blogged about this curriculum already.

So, it arrived yesterday. Yay! I've been waiting for it for about 4 months. It's not too late anyway, but I've started her with some worksheets and other workbook that I bought a couple of months ago. Well, looking at the LightUnits, I'm satisfied with the materials and I actually like it. I can't wait to start it out with Andrea next Monday. She's excited, too.
Just arrived
Whoa! 2nd Grade CLE
Andrea and her books
I created a student planner for her to use with this curriculum. It was inspired by the planner they have, I just recreated, tweaked it a little bit to suit our needs, and print it out on an A5 blank loose leaf.
So girly..
Here are the closer look. I'm so sorry for the picture quality, I took them with my phone's camera.
The front cover
The first page is for weekly appointments, special appointments, and weekly memory verse
The second and third page are the typical student planner plus a self evaluation
The fourth page is for journal
The back cover with a Scripture
We bought a new "office" for her because her old table and chair were too small now. Here, she can keep her stationaries, study books, pictures, and all of her fave books in a basket.
Andrea's "office"
What's on the table?
All of Andrea's favorite books are here in the basket
With all of this preparation, I'm really looking forward to teach her on Monday. As for Brandon, We're still using the Phonics Reader and the activity book, Smart Start Math activity book, and Smart Start Science activity book, all for kindergarten level. I'm thinking of buying CLE's 1st grade for him later after he finish all the level from Smart Start series.

IES Kids' Camp (April 9-10, 2011) at D'Agape Residence

I just got back from the camp with my daughter, Dea. Brandon didn't join because the camp was for 6-12yo. The camp was great and the place is amazing. We had a lot of fun and my daughter certainly had learned a lot. She had dedicated her life to Jesus and prayed to be filled with the Holy Spirit... I'm so happy for her.

Here are some pictures from the camp...
Dea in our room... nice...
Outbound activities...
Wheel... roll like a hamster...
Toss a ring... it's not as easy as it looks
I got 1 ring in...
Great game!
Camouflage... try to find 50 rocks in 20 seconds
The "PEACE" Team waiting for their turn to play
Still have time to take a picture... The "PEACE" girls...

These children are dedicating their life to Jesus... wonderful moment...
Thanks to Pastor Tim, Pastor Debra, and Pastor Maureen from IES Kids Church who had work so hard in organizing this camp. God bless you!

Curriculum for the Next Academic Year

It's been a long time since my last post, I know. I've been very busy as I take up a new job now as a home tutor in the afternoon. We're still adjusting the new schedule. So, having this job in the afternoon, I'm thinking of changing the curriculum, because I don't really have any time to prepare for the lessons anymore. I've been searching for another curriculum and tell you the truth, I feel overwhelmed with all the options. They're sooo many!

I've been reading the reviews here and there and downloading lesson samples, and still feel somehow "not sure"... until I found Christian Light Education. I downloaded their lesson samples, and have my daughter tried it... and she loves it! So, I'm going to get her do the diagnostic test first to know her level... but I think I'm going to go ahead and order the Level 200. She's an advanced reader, and I can see that we've done some of the things from Level 100.

I'm so glad that I found this curriculum. Hope it will work well with my kids.

She's so serious...
This is her look when I ask her about the curriculum... she loves it!

Singing "Counting on God"

My daughter loves to sing... so I caught her singing this song, using her dad's "song book".

Christmas Celebration with Christian Home Education Community

Happy New Year 2011! Hope it’s not too late to wish you all a very happy new year of homeschooling… LOL.

I’ve been very busy during the Christmas season, preparing for the Homeschool Community’s Christmas Celebration. I’m so glad that it turned out great. We wouldn’t have done it if not because of God’s grace and the support of all the parents. I’m sooo blessed to be part of this community.

Here’s the picture of us all… Whoa!
The whole gang

Here are some pictures of the children performance...
